1 GOAL, 2 ASSISTS: ARSENAL FANS WILL BE FUMING AFTER £25M TARGET’S UCL DISPLAY

Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, and the Ukranian’s performance last night against RB Leipzig might have ramped up the youngster’s price tag by a few million.

The 21-year-old winger started for Shakhtar in their UEFA Champions League opener against the Bundesliga side, with Mudryk bagging two assists and a goal in what could be a pivotal 4-1 result for the Donetsk giants as the Ukrainian side secured one of the biggest results of the evening.

Mudryk had been linked with Arsenal during the final week of the transfer window, with Brentford also reportedly interested in the promising attacker, yet neither London side managed to sign the youngster, and last night’s performance could now have both clubs regretting the decision.

The Shakhtar winger was unplayable against a Leipzig side who are yet to find their feet this season, with Mudryk playing a role in the visitor’s final three goals of the evening with two fine assists and a brilliantly-taken finish 14 minutes from time to give the Ukrainian side a huge three points in their Champions League opener.

Indeed, Arsenal were quoted at a reported £25m for Mudryk in the summer window, yet after last night’s display for Shakhtar against Leipzig, the Gunners could now well have to pay above this value should the youngster continue his incredible form in Europe for the remainder of the year.

Edu Gaspar might not have managed to bring Mudryk to Arsenal this summer, and the decision to not go all out for the Shakhtar star could prove to be a costly one given how much the winger’s value could now raise after his breakout performance in the Champions League this week against Leipzig.

With rival clubs already interested in the attacker, Arsenal could face a mountain to climb in January if they’re to renew their efforts to sign Mudryk, and if the attacker continues to shine in Europe, the Gunners could be priced out of a move for the 21-year-old superstar in the making.
