Former Manchester United star Mason Greenwood has continued his fine start to life in Ligue 1 with a goal against Reims for Olympique de Marseille in a 2-2 draw.

After being suspended by United following serious legal accusations in early 2022, charges were dropped in February last year. However, he was sent on loan to Getafe in Spain, where he enjoyed a relatively successful time.

There was initially some doubt as to what new part owners Ineos would do with Greenwood but it became clear that they wanted to draw a line under the affair and he was officially sold to Marseille last month.

The Englishman got off to a flying start in France as he scored a brace in an opening day victory for the south coast side.

The Englishman continued his goalscoring form yesterday as he netted the equaliser in his side’s 2-2 draw away to Reims.

It was a finely taken headed goal, showing off the 22 year old’s predatory instinct that at one point saw him rated as one of the most talented youngsters in English football.

He was given an impressive score of 7.6 on Sofascore and was once again heavily involved in Marseille’s attack.

He had 42 touches, completing 22 out of his 26 passes.

He also had five shots in total, with two on target, two off it and one blocked.

He also showed off his creative side by contributing one key pass which led to a big chance.

Greenwood’s move has been far from plain sailing off the pitch as it was condemned by the mayor of the city and he faced some protests from fans.

Nonetheless, his boss Roberto De Zerbi has claimed his goalscoring will quieten down the critics and with three goals in two games, he is certainly doing his part.
