29-year-old Arsenal player has genuine chance of being in the squad to face Everton this weekend – Another good news for Arsenal fans

Gunners Central midfielder could make his return from injury earlier than expected and play a part for Arsenal against Everton.

The Evening Standard report that Partey is progressing well with the injury which has ruled him out since last month.

The midfielder has been called up by Ghana for the forthcoming international break, raising hopes he could be back fit soon.

He wants to return to training this week, but will not be ready to play when Arsenal kick off their Europa League campaign on Thursday, against FC Zurich of Switzerland away from home.

Arsenal could soon have Partey back from injury

He has a chance of playing in their next Premier League game, against Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It might be tempting for Mikel Arteta to rush him back on the back of that 3-1 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.

But the report says he will not do that and risk a setback for a player who has had more than his fair share of injuries since joining Arsenal.

Games are coming thick and fast every three days, providing Partey with opportunities to build his fitness in a patient manner.

It would be a boost for the Gunners if Partey was back sooner than expected, as they were unable to sign a new midfielder on deadline day.

Mo Elneny is also out and that midfield depth could become an issue if it drags on for an extended period, but it remains to be seen what happens with Partey in the next few days.
