How Man United can shape up with Marcus Rashford as no.9 in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system – shown in lineup
Man United are likely to revert to a 3-4-3 formation under new head coach Ruben Amorim as he attained a lot of success with that system at Sporting CP.
As the anticipation builds for his first game in charge against Ipswich Town, there have been some rumours that Amorim might have special plans for Marcus Rashford.
The gaffer is reportedly planning to use Rashford in a no.9 role. This might be because neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee have been in their best form this season.
The Englishman has scored four goals so far in the campaign, more than both Hojlund and Zirkzee. This is probably why Amorim might feel he’s suited for the no.9 role.
If Rashford plays up front in this 3-4-3 system, that could mean Alejandro Garnacho or Amad Diallo get to play in one of the two wing-forward roles alongside Bruno Fernandes.
Amorim is likely to use his trusted player in Manuel Ugarte in the deeper midfield role alongside Kobbie Mainoo. The wing-back roles should be occupied by the in-form Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw or Diogo Dalot.
