4-2-3-1: Predicted Mufc XI vs Southampton – Amad starts, Zirkzee at striker, Casemiro in midfield

Our predicted MUFC XI vs Southampton is now in, with the Red Devils looking to return to winning ways.

Manchester United are already under immense pressure after just three games. It really is brutal for Erik ten Hag, who has absolutely no room for manoeuvre already. It’s up to his players to show real defiance during these adverse times.

Next up, Southampton away. The Saints are yet to win a game this term, though they’re always difficult to beat on their own turf. I’d fully expect another tricky outing on the South Coast here, so the United will have to be at their best.

The Red Devils have plenty of team news decisions to make here, with the likes of Manuel Ugarte now in contention following his big-money move from PSG. There’s also a dilemma out on the wing, with three players pushing for two positions.

Anyway, let’s give you the full run down of how we think United will shape up…

Andre Onana’s inclusion is obvious. The man from Cameroon hasn’t really struggled in the shot-stopping department to start this term, but his distribution could certainly be better.

At right-back, Noussair Mazraoui is almost certain to start, with Diogo Dalot getting the nod on the opposite side. Lisandro Martinez will play at the heart of the back four, alongside Matthijs de Ligt as the pair look to build a real rapport.

Casemiro’s inclusion is controversial, but it’d be unfair to throw the aforementioned Ugarte straight into the fire – particularly when he’s nowhere close to being fully fit. Kobbie Mainoo will start alongside the Brazilian, with Bruno Fernandes completing the midfield trio.

Joshua Zirkzee will lead the line here, with Amad and Marcus Rashford on his right and left respectively. It’s really tough to leave out Alejandro Garnacho, though he’s got a long flight back from South America to contend with. That probably just swings the tide in the favour of the other two guys.
