Well, that’s it. Arsenal is through to the semifinal of the Champions League, after eliminating the current champions Real Madrid.

When Arsenal learned they would face Real Madrid, nobody tipped the Gunners to make their way through the tie. Indeed, injuries to key players in the buildup to the match only lowered the vote of confidence for the North London side.

However, in the first leg of the tie, Arsenal silenced all of their doubters. It might have taken the Gunners some time to make their way in the tie but a moment of absolute brilliance from Declan Rice opened the scoring. He soon followed up with an arguably more impressive free kick, completing the perfect performance.

Then, later in the match, Mikel Merino put away an impressive finish himself to add to his personal tally and really tie the knot for Arsenal. But still, there was work to do in the second leg.

In the buildup to the 2nd leg, Real Madrid put out promotional videos and motivational talks. They just didn’t do their talking on the pitch; Arsenal did.

A 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu was more than enough for Arsenal, with goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli topping off Arsenal’s best display across two legs in this competition. Now, they progress to the semifinal of the competition, but who will they face?

Arsenal will face Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal of the Champions League. They will play at the Emirates Stadium firstly, then travel to the Parc des Princes for the second leg.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Arsenal

Arsenal has already faced Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group phase. The Gunners hosted the Parisiens at the Emirates Stadium back in October and won the tie comfortably, with goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.

It is worth noting that in a short amount of time, PSG is a completely different outfit. The French side is in absolutely impeccable form and it will take a lot to eliminate them.

In the quarterfinal tie between PSG and Aston Villa, PSG narrowly edged through. Despite being superb in the 1st leg, the 2nd leg at Villa Park proved that they are there for the taking.

Without a doubt, Arsenal vs PSG is a semifinal which raises the eyebrows.

The winner of Arsenal vs PSG will go onto the final to face the winner of Barcelona vs Inter Milan. Four great teams in the semifinal and make no mistake about it, Arsenal earned their place.
