(4-3-2-1) Vs (4-3-3) Cunha vs Zubimendi”, Predicted Manchester United lineup vs Arsenal – as Ruben Amorim vows to revenge last season defeats
Manchester United have learned their opponents for the opening weekend of the upcoming 2025-26 Premier League season.
Ruben Amorim’s plans for the 2025-26 campaign will already be well underway; however, now he has a date and a fixture to prepare for.
Manchester United’s Premier League fixture list was released on Wednesday, with an opening day clash against Arsenal awaiting the Red Devils, which could be a baptism of fire, but also the potential to build some real momentum on day one.
United’s first five games are a mixture of difficulties, but a quick start against tough opponents would do wonders for Amorim’s team.
We are just under two months away from the season kicking off, but with the opening day now set, how might Amorim’s United side line up at Old Trafford on August 17th?
How Manchester United could line-up vs Arsenal on Premier League opening day
After the disaster that was the 2024-25 season, United need a quick start against Arsenal and mainly just avoid defeat. Hopefully, by the time the season starts, United will be done with transfer business and can field the team that will likely be the first choice for the entire season.
So here is our way too early predicted line-up for the Arsenal game…
Andre Onana
Starting in goal, it seems likely that Onana will retain his place. Onana has admitted his future is uncertain, but he has no suitors right now, and any signing in the position will likely start off as a second choice.
Leny Yoro
After an up-and-down first season, Yoro showed in the final few months why he is considered one of football’s biggest talents. Next season should be even better, and we see him as a nailed-down starter for 2025-26.
Harry Maguire
In the centre of the back three, probably for his final season at the club, is Maguire, having won Amorim’s trust; he should be ahead of Matthijs de Ligt to begin with, although it feels inevitable that the Dutchman becomes the starter.
Ayden Heaven
On the left, Lisandro Martinez remains out of contention, which could see Heaven handed the chance to make the position his own. Heaven has been working hard this summer and impressed Amorim last season, which could see him become a breakout star.
Amad
The business United have done in the transfer market means Amad will likely be seen as the first-choice right-wing-back next season. Amad enjoyed a breakout season in 2024-25 amidst the struggles around him and could explode into a world-class talent in 2025-26.
Ederson
The first signing in our predicted team is Brazil and Atalanta star Ederson, who has been heavily linked with United for the entirety of 2025. Ederson is good on and off the ball, defensively and in attack, making him the perfect successor to Casemiro in Amorim’s midfield.
Bruno Fernandes
Partnered with Ederson will be captain Fernandes, as his future almost certainly lies with United. Fernandes snubbed Al-Hilal in favour of an Old Trafford stay, but with attacking reinforcements, he will likely start in the midfield instead of the attack.
Patrick Dorgu
On the left, Dorgu is likely to be the starter after a solid yet far from perfect opening few months since his January move. United signed Dorgu for potential, and he has shown plenty, but he needs to improve this season or risk Harry Amass taking his starting berth.
Bryan Mbeumo
Another new signing can be found in the right-sided number 10 role with Mbeumo from Brentford. Talks with the Bees have gone on far too long for this deal to fall through, and it seems inevitable he will be wearing red next season in a huge upgrade for the offense.
Matheus Cunha
Alongside Mbeumo, we expect to see the new £62.5m signing Cunha as he is absolutely perfect for the left number 10 role. Cunha has a bad record against Arsenal, never beating the Gunners, but will be desperate to change this in August.
Viktor Gyokeres
Finally, leading the line, despite all the drama and other names being circulated, it still feels inevitable that United will find their way back to Gyokeres this summer, with other clubs choosing different strikers. It would be an instant chance for Viktor Gyokeres to make Arsenal rue their decision if it happens.
