(4-4-2) New formation to accommodate Mount and Bruno Fernandez”, Predicted Man United line up vs Viktoria Plzen – as Ruben Amorim makes five crucial changes to previous XI
Manchester United are back in action on Thursday evening when they square off against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
The size of the task in hand has become apparent to Ruben Amorim over the past week with United suffering back-to-back defeats to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest respectively.
At a time when the Red Devils have dropped back down to 13th position in the Premier League table, they are a respectable 12th place in the Europa League standings courtesy of collecting nine points from their opening five fixtures.
Here, rounds up Man United’s injury and suspension news ahead of their trip to the Czech Republic.
Jonny Evans
Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: December 12 (vs. Viktoria Plzen)
Evans has not been seen on the pitch since Amorim’s first game at Ipswich Town and has sat out the recent squads due to injury. The likelihood is that he will remain on the sidelines for this contest.
Toby Collyer
Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown
Collyer has not been in a matchday squad for Man United since the middle of September due to a muscular problem, and the 20-year-old midfielder remains on the sidelines for the 20-time English champions.
Luke Shaw
Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown
Shaw has only just worked his way back from a calf issue, but the England international has now picked up a hamstring problem and is set to be sidelined for several weeks; the defender has opened up on his devastation at his ongoing injury issues, but Amorim has promised to continue backing the former Southampton youngster.
Victor Lindelof
Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: Unknown
Lindelof picked up a groin problem while representing Sweden during the November international break, and has remained unavailable for selection. However, with the defender having returned to training, the expectation is that he will feature in the travelling squad for this game.
MANCHESTER UNITED’S SUSPENSION LIST
Man United have no players suspended for this fixture.
Man Utd preview: Won three of last six
Man Utd slipped to another disappointing result in the Premier League on Saturday, going down 3-2 in their own backyard against Nottingham Forest.
Forest took an early lead at Old Trafford but Rasmus Hojlund equalised in the 18th minute and the pair went in level at the break. However, the visitors scored twice in the second half and although Bruno Fernandes pulled a goal back, United ended up losing this one 3-2.
The defensive trio of Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof are expected to miss the trip to Czechia on Thursday due to injury.
Predicted lineup: Onana (GK), de Ligt, Dalot, Martínez, Yoro, Fernandes, Ugarte, Mainoo, Garnacho, Diallo & Hojlund
