Man Utd takeover: Final battle begins as Sheikh Jassim leading the top bid to buy Manchester United – official announcement soon
It recently emerged that Sheikh Jassim would be ‘tempted’ by the prospect of bringing Kylian Mbappe to Manchester United. Without a doubt it’s easy to see why, with the Paris Saint-Germain star one of the best players in world football. But a deal won’t be happening this summer, with the Red Devils having no chance at all when it comes to securing the striker’s signature.
Manchester United want a new striker this summer.
Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Rasmus Hojlund and Goncalo Ramos have all been linked amid uncertainty over their futures at Tottenham, Napoli, Atalanta and Benfica respectively.
But United have, in recent times, been linked with Mbappe as well.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, speaking to GiveMeSport, has claimed Sheikh Jassim would be tempted by a deal for the PSG star.
He said: “Tempted, yes. It’s just such a big if, though, isn’t it?
“It’s such a big if because this takeover saga just rambles on and on and on and you’ve got to have a degree of sympathy for Erik ten Hag because we’re talking about, you know, the likes of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, can United go in for them?
“Well, if this takeover takes another one or two months, you know, we’re well into this transfer window, you know, coming towards the end of it.
“Are players going to wait around for what’s going to happen with their future depending on what happens with the takeover at Manchester United?”
While Sheikh Jassim may be dreaming of bringing Mbappe to Old Trafford, however, it’s hard to see that happening.
Indeed, the ship may have already sailed.
United did bid for Mbappe back in the summer transfer window of 2017, when it became clear the forward would be leaving Monaco.
They lodged an offer worth £72million, with Jose Mourinho manager at the time.
