I want to move: £40m Player tells Aston Villa he wants to leave now, Erik Ten Hag seriously want him before the transfer window close
Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag personally wants to sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, according to a report.
Football Transfers have reported that Manchester United are interested in signing Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
United head coach Erik ten Hag personally wants the Argentina international goalkeeper in his team for next season and beyond.
The Dutchman wants to team up Martinez with his Argentina international teammate and defender Lisandro Martinez, according to the report, which has added that Ten Hag “feels the connection they have playing together for the national team will benefit” United’s “defence next season”.
Football Transfers have added that the former Arsenal goalkeeper wants to leave Villa and play for a club in the UEFA Champions League.
Martinez “has informed Unai Emery of his desire to leave the club and the manager is happy to let him go if a replacement can be found for Villa”, according to the report.
Could Manchester United sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa?
In our opinion, Manchester United could be able to sign Emiliano Martinez from Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, but there could be complications.
United are arguably the biggest club in England, and a move to Old Trafford would be hugely appealing and tempting for the Argentina international.
And we do not think that Villa would stop the goalkeeper from leaving if they got a good offer from United.
However, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils do make a bid for Martinez.
United are actively trying to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
And they still also have David de Gea.
While De Gea is now officially a free agent, United have said that they are still in talks with the Spaniard over a new contract.
Would the Red Devils be willing to or able to sign Martinez and Onana and also have De Gea on their books for next season and beyond?
Surely not.
