Medical ongoing as Man United complete the signing of £60m European star – Player will be announce today as New Man united player
Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Inter Milan star Andre Onana – and the goalkeeper has been spotted prior to boarding a plane ahead of his move
Various reports stated on Tuesday that United had agreed a £47.2 million fee to sign the 27-year-old shot-stopper, who will replace David de Gea as the club’s number one goalkeeper.
Erik ten Hag’s side are said to be hopeful that the transfer can be completed in time for Onana to join up with the squad for their pre-season tour in the United States.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Onana did not arrive in England on Tuesday night to complete a medical, as had been claimed, with delays to the original plan stated as the reason.
But it now appears that the goalkeeper is now taking an extra step closer to sealing a move to Old Trafford.
Onana ‘plane tracked’ ahead of Man Utd move
Onana was spotted at Turin airport on Tuesday ahead of boarding a flight to England – and confirmed that the move was set to be completed in an interview with Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport
As per FlightRadar24, a plane that set off from Turin is due to arrive in Manchester this afternoon – with some speculation that the plane could be the one that Onana is travelling on to complete the final details of his move to Old Trafford.
Should his medical be completed without a hitch, United will be signing a goalkeeper heavily praised for his distribution and shot-stopping abilities whilst with Inter and Ajax
He worked alongside Ten Hag at the latter, where he won six trophies in total.
Speaking on his Vibe with FIVE podcast last week, United legend Rio Ferdinand spoke of his excitement at Onana’s impending arrival: “He’ll give United more confidence and more ability to play out from the back and I think he suits an Erik ten Hag team.
“He’s a real modern-day goalkeeper. You see teams pressing him and he doesn’t even panic.”
