Manchester United make £72M transfer decision – Man utd wants £80M ace – Erik Ten Hag will meet £50m man today to finalize deal

Fabrizio Romano has given Manchester United fans great news in their club’s pursuit of striker Ramus Hojlund, in an update which will also delight Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag.

Hojlund has emerged into Man Utd’s primary striker target after they previously looked into signing the likes of Victor Osimhen, Randal Kolo Muani and Dusan Vlahovic. Ten Hag believes Hojlund has all the attributes needed to become a deadly goalscorer in the Premier League, while he will also not cost as much as the other centre-forwards that have been mentioned.

Man Utd have already agreed on personal terms with the Dane. Should his switch from Atalanta to Old Trafford reach completion, then he will sign a five-year contract worth £80,000 a week. Currently, he only earns £10k a week in Italy.

On Wednesday, it was suggested by Gianluca Di Marzio that Hojlund had rejected a more lucrative contract offer from Paris Saint-Germain to join Ten Hag’s revolution at Man Utd.

But the next day, David Ornstein dropped a Man Utd bombshell by revealing PSG to actually be in ‘positive talks’ with Hojlund’s camp over personal terms. And the Ligue 1 giants have also sent Atalanta an offer for the rising star, which is worth €50m (£43m) in total.

Although, this bid is less than Man Utd’s opening proposal, which came in at an initial £43m plus an extra £8.5m in potential add-ons. Atalanta, meanwhile, are holding out for €70m (£60.1m).

On Twitter, Romano has revealed the state of play as Man Utd aim to get the jump on PSG. He states that Man Utd have ‘scheduled [a] new round of talks’ with Atalanta to try and reach a transfer agreement. The fresh discussions ‘will happen this week’.

In fantastic news for Ten Hag, Man Utd ‘remain favourites’ to sign the 20-year-old. This is down to two main reasons.

Man Utd in pole position for Rasmus Hojlund, despite rival offer.

First of all, joining Man Utd is Hojlund’s ‘priority’ as he is known to be a big fan of the club. Secondly, PSG are way further off Atalanta’s valuation than Man Utd, which means the French champions are much less likely to have their offer accepted.

In an interview with CaughtOffside, French football expert Jonathan Johnson has also explained why Hojlund is destined to play in England next.

“He’s a fantastic talent, but I actually think he’s a better fit for what Manchester United are trying to do at this moment in time,” the journalist said. “The pressure on Hojlund would be massive if he was coming to PSG to replace Mbappe – he doesn’t have the same prolific record as Osimhen or Kane, or even Goncalo Ramos, who’s also been linked.

“Still, the interest is genuine and PSG have submitted an official bid. It’s hard to predict for sure, but my feeling is that Man Utd will end up beating PSG to his signature – he’d get the chance to play more at Old Trafford and become more of a key player straight away than he would at PSG, where he’d more likely be coming in with a view towards building around him in the future.”

Johnson added that ‘for a bit more money’ PSG could probably get a more established striker than Hojlund to succeed from Mbappe up front.

Meanwhile, a Man Utd outcast has incredibly been ‘approached’ by five Serie A teams as they all look to engineer a summer deal, according to a report.
