Arsenal look set to announce the signing of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya this weekend. football.london understands that the Spain international is set to join the Gunners on an initial loan with an option to make the move permanent for £27million.
Raya had just 11 months left on his current contract at the Gtech Community Stadium and is said to have already agreed personal terms with the Gunners – along with completing a medical earlier this week.

Brentford boss update and agent ‘confirms’ deal
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has confirmed that Raya is set to join Arsenal this summer, claiming he is “expecting” the deal to be completed “soon”. An announcement could come as soon as this weekend after Raya’s agent, Jaume Munell, posted a picture of himself stood in front of the Arsenal badge at London Colney on his Instagram page.
Munell was also spotted taking a photo with Gunners superstar Bukayo Saka. It suggests that all the contracts and tests have been completed with Raya set to be announced in the coming days.
Fresh twist
Following news that Raya is set to undergo his medical on Thursday, it has now emerged that Arsenal will sign Raya on an initial loan with an option to buy.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners will pay a £3million loan fee with an option to make the deal permanent for £27million next summer. Raya’s deal at Brentford was due to run out in 2024, but the report claims he will now extend his deal until 2025.
Medical booked.
Raya will undergo his medical on Thursday ahead of a £30million move to Arsenal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The goalkeeper will have his medical tests before being unveiled as an Arsenal player.

According to CBS Sports, Arsenal are close to reaching an agreement to sign David Raya from Brentford.

“The Gunners opening offer may have been turned down but there is will from all parties to agree a deal for the shot-stopper, whose contract expires in June. Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner is closing in on completing a move to Nottingham Forest. The Athletic have reported that an agreement has been reached, with the USMNT star set to undergo his medical on Monday (August 7).
Turner’s exit provides encouragement that the Gunners will be able to negotiate a deal for Raya. There is currently a £7million gap between valuations of the two clubs.
