According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea now want to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a player Arsenal let go for nothing in January.
Well, this would be quite the move for Chelsea, mainly because of how the 33-year-old’s time at Arsenal ended.
Back in January, the Gunners agreed to terminate Aubameyang’s contract early following a disciplinary breach, which caused him to be stripped of the captaincy.
His £350,000-a-week contract was torn up, and Barcelona ended up signing him on a free transfer, with the deal including a release clause worth €100m (£83.5m).
Now, Chelsea are attempting to lure Aubameyang away from the Camp Nou, just months after he arrived.
Romano believes the Blues have already held talks with the Gabon international, but are yet to enter official negotiations with Barcelona.
Aubameyang is said to be on Chelsea’s shortlist alongside RB Salzburg wonderkid Benjamin Sesko, who is also a target for Newcastle

If Chelsea are successful in their pursuit of Aubameyang, and he goes back to being the deadly striker he once was in the Premier League, it would not reflect well on Arsenal.
The Barcelona No.17 has proven he still has goals in him during his time in Spain, and with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and Reece James supplying him, we’re sure he’d score plenty at Stamford Bridge
In our view, Arsenal fans will hope that this deal doesn’t happen, or else Aubameyang may come back to haunt them – just imagine if he helps Chelsea finish in the top four ahead of the Gunners, for example.
That would be a nightmarish scenario, and after effectively being sacked by Arsenal, we presume Aubameyang would also be fired up to prove the Gunners wrong – Arsenal fans surely don’t want this move to happen.
