Don’t join Arsenal,They will ruin your career just as they did to Mine’: Former Arsenal player Lacazette advice His £40m fellow Countryman not to join Arsenal in January
Arsenal’s midfield may need a bit of work in the coming months.
Kai Havertz is struggling to get to grips with his role at the Emirates, Thomas Partey may well be on his way out, and if Arsenal are to challenge for major honours, they need a proper partner for Declan Rice.
According to 90Min, one player that is being considered is Youssouf Fofana.
The AS Monaco star has been going from strength to strength over the past 18 months, and he’s been on the radar of a number of top clubs in recent times.
In fact, he was even reportedly seen as an alternative to Rice for Arsenal this summer if they were to have missed out on the former West Ham captain.
Fofana is certainly a talent. After all, he’s a France international and a World Cup runner-up, but, he may not be what Arsenal need right now.
We’ve heard this week that Arsenal’s midfield is lacking that real drive and forward-thinking physical gumption that they had last season, and, sadly, Fofana may not be the man to fix that issue.
The Frenchman is very much a defensive-minded player, and to say that he may not be cut-out for the rigours of the Premier League would be a fair assessment.
Fofana may be talented, but, as simple as it sounds, he may be too slow for the Premier League.
According to The Speeds Database, Fofana isn’t the quickest. In fact, his highest-clocked top speed is even slower than Jorginho’s, and anyone who’s watched the Italian play would tell you that isn’t good.
Whether or not Arsenal step up their interest in Fofana in the coming months remains to be seen, but, in our view, this is a move that the Gunners have to tread carefully with when considering.
