Celtic legend Chris Sutton fired shots at Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United after they suffered a costly 4-3 defeat to FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The former striker acknowledged that ‘people can rightfully point their finger at Celtic’ for only picking up one point in the Champions League this season.
But he seemingly suggested on Twitter that it’s far worse that Manchester United, after spending big bucks, are making a mess of things on Europe’s biggest stage.
The outspoken pundit laid down the imaginary scenario of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic having ‘over £400 million’ to spend, then proceeding to lose to a team like FC Copenhagen.
The issue for Manchester United is that, not only are they facing the possibility of not progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League, but they could also finish bottom.
Celtic and Manchester United are sinking in two different ships, one isn’t expected to last the journey because of how much money has been spent on it, but the other has been dubbed ‘the unsinkable’ Titanic, yet is about to drop like a fly.

“People can rightly point their finger at Celtic for their Champions League campaign as a whole this season,” said Sutton.
“But just imagine if Celtic had over £400 million to spend since the start of last season and made such a rip-roaring (bleep) of things…”

There have been a lot of verbals thrown at Celtic since that 6-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid – Jamie Carragher shared his thoughts on the game.
And rightly so, the Bhoys are getting criticism, even from within.
But there is always someone worse off and Manchester United are proving that’s the case because, not only have their results been just as bad, but their performances have been woeful.
All in all, both teams have two pressure-cooker games coming up to, at the very least, save face from what has been a disappointing campaign in the Champions League so far.
