‘He always admire this great club whenever we’re together’: Neymar Jr confirmed His £50m Brazilian teammate now want to join Arsenal over Man city in January

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are ramping up their interest in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

That is according to Football Transfers, which has claimed that Arsenal are keen on bringing Luiz to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window and have already made a move for him.

So, what is the story about Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz?

Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?
Well, according to Football Transfers, Arsenal made a bid for Douglas Luiz in the summer of 2023 and have already made a move to bring the Aston Villa and Brazil international midfielder to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.

Arsenal are reportedly planning a bid for the 25-year-old in the middle of the season.

The report has claimed that the Gunners “have already approached Villa about Luiz’s availability for January”.

However, the response has not been great.

Football Transfers has claimed that Villa have flatly told Arsenal that unless they pay “an extraordinary fee”, they have no chance of signing the 25-year-old, who was described as “unbelievable” by ex-Villa manager Dean Smith in The Birmingham Mail in June 2020.

Arsenal could struggle to sign Douglas Luiz in January
In my opinion, Arsenal could struggle to convince Aston Villa to sell Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window.

After all, Villa are a big and established club in the Premier League who are aiming for a place in the top four this season.

Unai Emery is building something special at Villa, and he will surely not want to lose one of his best players to his former club Arsenal.

Of course, we know that money talks, but I do not see Arsenal willing to cough up £70 million or £80 million for Luiz, a player former Gunners star Paul Merson really likes.
