‘Despite the humiliation,I will still give credit to who deserves it’: Everton boss Sean Dyche praises one Manchester United player as Red Devils win 3-0
Everton were looking to make a defiant statement to the Premier League at the weekend, and it fell flat thanks to Manchester United.
United were determined not to be sacrificial lambs to a vociferous Everton crowd, winning comfortably at a stadium which has not always been kind to the Red Devils.
It was instead United who made the statement, showing that there is a reason the team are the most in-form in the Premier League.
United won the game 3-0, with Alejandro Garnacho leading the way with a wondrous overhead kick, which Gary Neville lauded as the best he has ever seen.
Dyche on Garnacho
Frustrated Everton boss Sean Dyche admitted that Garnacho’s goal was a special one.
He told BBC Sport: “They started the game with a worldie which put us on the back-foot.”
He repeated the description, adding: “It is a worldie and fair play to the lad [Alejandro Garnacho] but I will doubt there will be one like that next week.”
Speaking to Everton’s website, he said: “They score a career goal, with a great finish. It changed the feel of the early part of the game.”
Dyche went onto admit that United’s passing in the final third was too much for his team to cope with, adding: “It is tough. They are top of the form guide and they are clinical, they found big moments with key passes.”
Garnacho speaks out on goal
Alejandro Garnacho explained his thoughts on his goal, expressing disbelief. He told MUTV: “I can’t believe it to be honest.
“I just did [it] and I didn’t see how I scored, I just listened around.
“I said: ‘Oh my god’, and for me, of course, it was one of the best goals I have ever scored. I am very happy.”
VAR goes United’s way
Manchester United were awarded a penalty in the second half after Anthony Martial was fouled by former Red Devils captain Ashley Young.
Sean Dyche was not happy, but was measured in his response. He said: “VAR is being made so complex. I feel for the fans and the referee stares at the screen and we know the outcome.
“The way the modern game is they say it is a penalty. But we see it all the time and it is what the game has become now.”
