Return Date announced: Arteta provides fresh injury update on Takehiro Tomiyasu – reveals when He will be back
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a fresh injury update on Takehiro Tomiyasu ahead of the club’s Premier League clash at Luton Town on Tuesday.
The north London giants extended their lead at the top of the table to two points following their 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend.
They have the opportunity to temporarily go five points clear with a win against the Hatters.
Ahead of the game, Arteta said that Tomiyasu was taken out as a precaution against Wolves and a decision will be made over his involvement tomorrow.
He said in a press conference broadcasted live on Arsenal.com: “We assessed him after the game. We took him out for precaution. We will wait. Whether it’s useful to use him we’ll decide tomorrow He’s a strong boy hopefully he’ll be fine.”
Meanwhile, the Gunners boss confirmed that Ben White is feeling perfect after his muscle injury, he added: “He’s feeling perfect after the injury and how we managed his load.”
White could start over Tomiyasu at Luton
Tomiyasu has been in fine form after the international break. He registered two assists in a blistering first half performance against Lens in the Champions League.
Against Wolves, he was brilliant once more. The Japanese star provided the assist for Bukayo Saka’s opening goal scored after just six minutes on the clock.
The former Bologna man has been doing really well of late, but the Gunners need to handle him with caution, considering his injury record over recent seasons.
The €25 million-rated star has suffered long-term injuries in the back end of the last two seasons. Arteta should not start him unless he is fully fit for the game.
The Gunners have a quality replacement in White in the ranks. The Englishman will be raring to go, having lost his starting spot to Tomiyasu since his recent injury.
