Manchester United offer exiled winger to Barcelona in swap deal for 26-year-old forward
A sensational report from SPORT has emerged that Premier League giants Manchester United have proposed a direct swap deal to Barcelona involving their 23-year-old winger Jadon Sancho and Raphinha.
It’s more than certain that Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, does not see Sancho as an ideal fit for the club due to his disciplinary issues. On the other hand, Raphinha is not having the desired impact at Barcelona as well.
How will the deal work?
Sancho joined Manchester United back in 2021 for a deal reported to be worth €85 million while Raphinha moved to Catalonia in 2022, costing Barcelona about €60 million.
Now, Manchester United are more than certain that they want to offload Sancho, but the problem is, they cannot recoup the amount they paid for the youngster.
The same goes for Raphinha, although the Brazilian’s form and his situation at Barcelona is not that dire.
How will Barcelona approach this situation?
Right now, all eyes will be on Deco as his perspective on this operation holds significance given his role as the sports director and his previous involvement as Raphinha’s agent.
As far as the player is concerned, during his initial year, the Brazilian faced inconsistencies, and a subsequent injury hampered his performance at the start of the current season.
However, he is determined to reclaim his form and has regained control over his game. Deco’s insights into this situation will likely provide valuable context and considerations for the ongoing developments.
As of today, there has been no direct contact between Barcelona and Manchester United, although it is known that the latter has been tracking Sancho, and a loan deal was once considered.
His incorporation, however, will only depend on a major exit in January and since there is nothing major planned, a swap deal might be on the card.
