£60m Arsenal target is now seriously injured, just days after claims he wanted Emirates move – transfer headache for Edu as player won’t be able to join this month again
Arsenal target and Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has picked up a serious looking injury to effectively rule him out of a move this month.
Olise is one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League in terms of those who play for clubs in the bottom half.
The French winger has attracted admiring glances galore, with both Manchester United and Arsenal keen.
However, according to The Athletic, Olise has now picked up a hamstring injury and is set to miss the whole of January with the issue.
Arsenal won’t be signing Michael Olise
Olise’s injury will come as a blow to Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. It was only days ago that it was claimed Olise would like to sign for Arsenal ahead of Manchester United.
Olise has been tipped to be Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first signing at United but the reports of his apparent preference for Arsenal would have given the Gunners hope.
However, a hamstring injury now looks set to have put a dampener on any potential move to The Emirates.
Mikel Arteta is wanting reinforcements this month but knows he must sign players who can come in and immediately contribute to the cause.
With Olise now out injured, and with it being a hamstring, the Gunners boss is likely to focus his attentions elsewhere now.
One for Arsenal to revisit
Hamstring injuries are always an issue and it makes sense really for Arsenal to simply keep Olise in their sights rather than buy him this month.
Valued around the £60m mark by Palace, Olise is certainly not a cheap signing who Arsenal can take a risk on.
However, he is one to keep on the radar. And if he overcomes this setback and plays well between his return and the end of the season, then Arsenal might well come knocking again.
Of course, others will be keen on Olise as well. But Arsenal, especially if they do win the league, will be an attractive proposition for the the Frenchman.
