‘Player’s camp pushing’: Fabrizio Romano has just given Arsenal fans hope as deadline draws nearer
Arsenal are STILL pushing to try and sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa this evening, according to the respected Fabrizio Romano.
The Brazilian midfielder has emerged as Arsenal’s main transfer target on deadline day. Luiz is in the final year of his contract and the Gunners have been trying all day to do a deal. Reports around 9pm tonight claimed that the Gunners hadn’t given up just yet on Luiz, with a third bid said to be being considered.
And taking to Twitter just now, Romano has claimed that it is a deal that could go right to the wire, with Arsenal and Douglas Luiz’s agents pushing to get the transfer done.
Villa are keeping to their guns as things stand by rejecting bids. But with Leo Dendoncker signed, there might well be room late on for Villa to pull the trigger and let Arsenal do a deal here.
Luiz is thought to be open to the move as well and there is no problem when it comes to personal terms from the player’s side of things. Likewise, Arsenal are thought to be desperate to get the deal over the line.
Arsenal have already spent more than £100m this summer and Luiz’s signing would round off a remarkable window for the club if it’s pulled off.
