Arsenal summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko has told Fabrizio Romano that Gabriel Martinelli is the player who has surprised him the most so far.
The Gunners defender joined Romano on Twitch via video call during the transfer insider’s live deadline day stream.
Zinchenko spoke with Romano about a few topics, including Arsenal’s reported pursuit of Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz.
And when asked which Arsenal player had stood out for him, Zinchenko replied, as quoted by GoonerViews: “Gabriel Martinelli.
“He’s the special one. Remember his name.”
Martinelli has become an indispensable player for Mikel Arteta over the past year or so.
Arsenal signed the talented Brazilian from Ituano when he was just 18 years old.
He came in and quickly took the English game by storm.
Martinelli registered 10 goals and four assists in just 15 starts in all competitions in his debut campaign.
After his superb maiden season at Arsenal, Martinelli then fell out of the regular starting picture for a while.
But last November, the 21-year-old came off the bench against Newcastle, scored, and hasn’t looked back since.
To date, Martinelli has made 89 Arsenal appearances, registering 21 goals and 13 assists.
This season, he has three goals from five Premier League outings, helping the Gunners to top spot in the table.
Martinelli has earned praise from so many peers and pundits recently, including Gabriel Jesus and Paul Merson.
Arsenal fans definitely know and remember his name – soon enough, the Premier League and the world.
