Personal terms agreed: Arsenal finally reached agreement to sign £60m defender, paperwork done – medical schedule to hold tomorrow
Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in Angers wonderkid Jean-Matteo Bahoya, according to L’Equipe (today’s edition).
The Gunners are always on the look out for emerging talents and they appear to be monitoring the progress of Bahoya in Ligue 2.
The 18-year-old has mostly featured off the bench this campaign, but has still managed five goals and two assists in 19 outings.
Mikel Arteta’s side have taken notice but L’Equipe claim that AC Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart are also keeping tabs on him.
Angers are yet to receive a contract proposal on the table, but it is reported that an exit in January can’t be ruled out for Bahoya.
Arsenal could eye bargain swoop for Bahoya
The youngster has the ability to play in multiple attacking positions. He started off his youth career as an attacking midfielder for Angers.
Since breaking into the first-team squad, he has occasionally played up front, but he is most comfortable from the left side of the attack.
Arsenal have the position well covered with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson can feature there too.
It is not a role where the Gunners require more depth this month, but the Gunners could still see Bahoya as a long-term investment.
He is currently valued at around €2.5 million. Arsenal could improve their chances of signing him by loaning him back for the season.
If Bahoya makes the most of his potential, he could become a first-team player for Arsenal, who will witness changes on the left wing.
Leandro Trossard is already 29 and could leave in another season or two. The futures of Nelson and Smith Rowe continue to be speculated.
