Manchester United

Personal terms agreed: Man united set to seal the signing of £60m star tomorrow, agreement set to be reached tonight, announcement tomorrow morning

Manchester United are prepared to battle Liverpool and Tottenham to hire the services of Japanese international, Ko Itakura.

According to an exclusive report covered by FT, the Red Devils have the door open to secure the Asian star in the current transfer window.

Itakura’s current contract with Borussia Monchengladbach will expire in 2026 and it has a release clause of £13million.

Man Utd have leaked goals on regular basis this term and need to reinforce the defense on immediate basis in the January transfer window.

On the other hand, Liverpool have the best defensive record in the Premier League and Tottenham have already strengthened their backline by signing Romanian center half, Radu Dragusin, from Genoa this month.

In such a scenario, the news source have mentioned that the Reds and Spurs will look towards getting Itakura in the summer, leaving Man Utd clear to move and secure his signing in winter.

The 26-year-old was a key member of the Japan side that defeated Spain and Germany to reach the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Against the Germans, the 24-capped international provided the assist for the winning goal.

In the current campaign, so far, he has netted two goals in seven Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach but has not played for them since suffering an ankle injury in October last year.

However, he has returned to full fitness and has featured for full 90 minutes in both the Asian Cup group fixtures for Japan.

In your opinion, should Man Utd blow the rivals out of water by signing Ko Itakura before deadline?
