Arsenal have now been linked with a striker today who has previously been incredibly complimentary of winger Bukayo Saka.
Mikel Arteta does currently have two striking incumbents who are also very happy to be playing alongside Saka, however, they aren’t scoring enough goals.
Neither Gabriel Jesus nor Eddie Nketiah have found the net on a consistent basis, even if they have played well otherwise.
And if Arsenal are to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City, who have goalscorers like Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland respectively, they’ll need to add goals.
Jesus and Nketiah are excellent players, however, their skill sets now seem too similar, neither can make up for the weaknesses of the other.
That being said, Arsenal have now been told they can sign Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson before next week’s deadline.
Wilson has been offered to interested clubs for £18m given Newcastle’s need to raise funds.
And whilst a move might make sense purely from a value and goals point of view, there’s also reason to think Wilson could settle well at the club.
Never shy on or off the pitch, Wilson has previously dished out a lot of praise for Arsenal star Saka.

Discussing Saka’s personality and potential before England’s World Cup campaign in 2022, Wilson said the winger was like his little brother.
He said: “He’s just a genuinely nice guy. He’s a young lad who’s got a big career ahead of him, the world’s his oyster.
“He’s so talented but also he’s so, so humble as well. He’s always smiling, always laughing, always happy.
“The first time I’ve met him is in this camp. I get on with him like a house on fire, he’s like a little brother to me.
Of course, it’s still up for update whether Arsenal fans would be happy if 31-year-old Wilson arrived as the club’s next striker to play alongside Nketiah.
Wilson’s goal scoring record, seven in 14 Premier League games this season, does surpass anyone in Arteta’s squad.
But given the striker’s injury history and age, some may not be keen on a move.
That being said, it does remain to be seen if Arsenal would be willing to chase a move this month, especially considering their own FFP restrictions.
And with that in mind, they are also said to have already put plans in place to sign a striker this summer.
