Manchester United

“He is actually the bad egg in this Man United team. Until Ten Hag lets go of him, they will never smell the Champions league spot. I can bet my life on that,” former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp urged Ten Hag to let go of one Man united player, warning that if he doesn’t, they will continue suffering and risk losing their Champions League spot next season again.

Manchester United have a big summer ahead of them. It is not only the first off-season window for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos minority shareholder investment group, but changes are afoot.

Sales across the squad promise to come after an exodus of ageing players on big contracts has already begun. The decision to stand by Erik ten Hag eventually suggests that more exits are to come.

Jadon Sancho could depart; the same is true of Victor Lindelof and others in the squad. With no player said to be off-limits in the departure lounge as Ratcliffe and his new-look sporting structure get down to business, the promise of an overhaul is there.

Coming in, United will not act quietly. There was a bid made for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite on the opening day of the window, while Benjmain Sesko was courted weeks before things officially got underway.

A new striker is on the list of targets. Central midfielders are the order of the day, and centre-backs are also in demand. So far, though, it has been a quiet affair.

There is plenty of time left to act. But pre-season will start not long into July, and United will be one of the teams to watch. Here, MEN Sport has all the business done so far, and the list will be kept updated as the summer goes on.
