Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were linked with Chelsea central midfielder N’Golo Kante in the summer transfer window, and there is a chance that the Gunners could be able to sign the Stamford Bridge star in 2023.
The Daily Star reported in July 2022 that Arsenal were considering ‘a shock approach’ for Chelsea midfielder Kante.
The France international is out of contract at the Blues at the end of the season.
An agreement between Chelsea and Kante over a new deal has yet to be reached.
The Athletic have reported this morning that Kante has yet to accept Chelsea’s terms of a new deal.
However, according to the report, Kante is ‘presently unwilling to accept this and would be looking for a greater duration’.
The report has added that the 31-year-old is very popular at Chelsea and would be ‘ready to finish his career’ at the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners, but he wants better terms.
If Chelsea do not improve their terms, then Kante could decide to leave the Blues on a free transfer next summer.
Now, of course, Arsenal do have a very good squad, but if the chance to snap up Kante on a free transfer comes up, then we think that they will take it.
