‘TERMS AGREED’ – Fabrizio Romano says Man Utd advance with next summer signing as ‘£15m fee agreed’
Manchester United are looking to complete more transfer business before the window shuts at the end of August
Manchester United have already agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui but a move hinges on whether Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves the club this summer, according to reports. Mazraoui, who predominantly plays at right-back, was previously close to joining West Ham but that move collapsed after the Hammers had agreed a deal worth up to £15m, with an up-front fee of £12.6m and the rest coming in add-ons.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Red Devils have already agreed personal terms with Mazraoui over a move to Old Trafford and that there is ‘no issues’ over an agreement between the clubs. The Guardian adds that a fee between £15m and £20m has already been agreed between United and Bayern but the transfer is dependent on the departure of Wan-Bissaka. After their move for Mazraoui fell through, West Ham have turned to Wan-Bissaka with the Guardian reporting the Hammers are ‘intent’ on signing the former Crystal Palace midfielder but a suitable fee needs to be agreed with United. Wan-Bissaka has a year left on his contract, having had a 12-month extension activated back in January.
He joined United from Palace back in the summer of 2019, for a fee in the region of £45m but the Red Devils are reportedly open to selling him for around a third of that original fee. Mazraoui and Ten Hag are well acquainted, having worked at Ajax together. Mazraoui made 137 appearances for the Dutch club before joining Bayern in 2023. He has since made 55 appearances for the German outfit and while his main position is right-back he can also play in central midfield and has in the past been used across the back four.
On Sunday, United were waiting to discover the extent of injuries sustained by Rasmus Højlund and Leny Yoro from Saturday’s pre-season friendly with Arsenal in Los Angeles. Ten Hag said afterwards: “Of course it is too short [to know about their injuries] and we have to wait over 24 hours, then we will hopefully know more. We were careful especially with Leny [Yoro] as he only did 50 per cent of the [training] sessions. He has to come up but let’s be positive and see what comes out.”
On the game, he added: “I think [the game] was a very good level for the third week of pre-season, from both sides, but in the first half I thought we were the better team. We scored a very good goal, a very good ball in behind from [Marcus] Rashford and then [Rasmus] Hojlund with a very good move and a finish, I was very pleased. We also created some more good chances and we then conceded the goal which was offside
