OFFICIAL NOW: Arsenal have internally agreed personal terms to sign World class striker who netted 20goals in all competition last season – Player to arrive soon to discuss on salary terms

It has been a quiet summer transfer window at Arsenal as they have only made David Raya’s loan move permanent and signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

Arsenal are expected to complete the move imminently, but manager Mikel Arteta hinted they could also sign a striker before the window closes on August 30.

After their 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday, Arteta told Sky Sports (via the Mirror): “We are really happy with the squad. It’s true we had an injury with Gabriel Jesus and we missed him. We are a little bit short and if we can do something then we will do it.

“I was watching the games today and every game is a big fight, the standard of the league has gone to another level again with the level of coaches. We have two from two and we’ll concentrate on Brighton”.

Arsenal currently have Kai Havertz on their books but he is not a natural striker. The German scored 13 and created seven goals last season, but the North Londoners could look to add another centre-forward.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been credited with an interest in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

But the finances for a deal could be too much for the Gunners as the Nigerian demands extraordinary wages plus they will have to pay a huge transfer fee as well.

Arsenal could switch their attention to Brentford’s Ivan Toney who is also highly rated for his goalscoring prowess.

The Bees are said to be prepared to sanction the 28-year-old’s exit if they receive a fee around £45m.

The North Londoners must step up their efforts to add a quality striker as less than a week is remaining in the transfer window.
