Craig Burley has claimed that ‘people would be mocking’ Mikel Arteta if he wasn’t getting results at Arsenal, based on what he’s heard from the All or Nothing documentary, as he told ESPN.
The former Scotland international shared that he has been told that Arteta is ‘apparently Ted Lasso’ in Arsenal’s All or Nothing documentary.
The popular Amazon series followed the Arsenal players and their manager during their every move for the 2021/22 campaign, which saw them miss out on Champions League football to rivals Tottenham.
Whilst it would have been entertaining viewing for neutrals, it would have been a pretty hard watch for those in Arsenal colours given how all of it ended.
Nonetheless, one of the main talking points from the documentary was Arteta’s man-management and how he would motivate his players before games or build up to certain matches.
From getting a light bulb out to playing ‘You’ll never walk alone’ before their clash against Liverpool, it has been a topic of conversation, as Burley shared his thoughts on the former Manchester City coach.
“He couldn’t have timed it any better (Arsenal sitting top), Mikel Arteta,” said Burley. “I haven’t watched it, but he apparently is Ted Lasso on this documentary.
“Nonsense (on all his players buying into it). I’m not having that. But I haven’t seen it and I am being reliably informed by my colleague and friend, Stevie Nicol, who keeps saying to me ‘Did you see that?’ And I say, ‘I told you. I am not watching it’.
“But, from some of the things he told me, if he wasn’t getting results, then people will be mocking him. But, at the moment, Arsenal are playing well. Trust me, it’s not because of some of the silly things I have heard him do in this documentary.”

Arsenal are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and, regardless of what people feel about the documentary or Arteta himself, his hard work is being showcased out on the pitch.
From an attacking sense, the football the team are playing is some of the best they have played for a very, very long time.
Then, from a defensive aspect, something which has been a major problem for the club for about 10+ years, once again, it’s the best it has been for a very long time.
All of it is down to the patience shown towards Arteta and how the backing from the top, added to the talent on the field, is helping transform the team for the good.
