‘Actually been excellent’: Pundit blown away by Arsenal player after international tie; he caused ‘real chaos’

Graeme Le Saux has told Channel 4 (broadcast on 26/9; 21:42) that Bukayo Saka was excellent after coming on for England during their Nations League draw with Germany, claiming that he caused real chaos when he was introduced.

Saka was one of the players dropped from the starting lineup for the clash at Wembley. And it appeared that it was going to be another miserable night for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Germany went 2-0 up during the second-half. And that prompted Southgate to turn to Saka and Mason Mount to try and make something happen.

And crikey, did the change pay off.

Mount actually scored the equaliser. But Saka’s performance was one that many will be talking about as England went on to take a 3-2 lead before Germany equalised late on.

Saka was superb in possession, making things happen and dancing past the challenges of the German players. And he very nearly scored late on himself. However, Marc-Andre ter Stegen was able to make a very good save.

As the full-time whistle loomed, Le Saux outlined just how impressed he had been by Saka’s performance.

“Excellent play by Saka, coming in on that right-hand side and picking the ball up in between players. Causing real chaos in there. His passing’s actually been excellent,” he told Channel 4.

Saka excellent in England draw

Saka was unlucky to lose his place. He did not have the best evening against Italy. But he was deployed out of position at left wing-back.

Southgate gave him a chance in his favoured right-wing role against Hansi Flick’s side. And the England boss will have surely taken note of just how dangerous he was there.

Saka has been outstanding for Arsenal for some time now. He is certainly knocking on the door for a starting spot in Qatar.
