PHOTO: 22-YEAR-OLD ‘SPECIAL’ PLAYER SPOTTED AT COLNEY, HASN’T PLAYED FOR ARSENAL IN 13 MONTHS

On Tuesday, Mikel Arteta put his Gunners players through their paces ahead of Saturday’s North London derby with Tottenham Hotspur.

Quite a lot of senior Arsenal players weren’t available to train at London Colney due to international commitments.

But Nelson was among those who was present for Arteta’s training session yesterday, following an injury.

The Spanish manager loaned the English winger to Feyenoord last season and hasn’t used him in a competitive game since August of 2021, in the 2-0 defeat by Brentford on the first day of the 2021-22 campaign.

But Arteta has previously labelled him a ‘special‘ player and with that in mind, seems to be an admirer of the 22-year-old.

That’s because Arteta and Edu failed to sign the winger that they desperately needed to during the summer transfer window and with the Englishman being a wide player, well it’s a timely boost for the North Londoners.

Of course, he won’t be starting Saturday’s visit of Spurs in the derby, but Arsenal will have a lot more games this season due to their Europa League commitments and therefore rotation will be massively important.

Nelson might find himself a fringe player in the bigger outings this season, but he will come in useful and if he makes the most of the opportunities that come his way, who knows what can happen.
