All summer the rhetoric has been that Arsenal need to sign a ‘proper’ striker, a traditional number nine in order to win the Premier League.
However, just one game into the new season, Kai Havertz has once again proved that Arsenal are well-stocked in that department.
To prove that point, Mikel Arteta also had Gabriel Jesus watching on from the bench, another exceptional talent ready to prove his doubters wrong.
Arteta wouldn’t benefit from the arrival of a new striker, even if Arsenal sell Eddie Nketiah to Nottingham Forest, it would simply bloat their squad.
If the Gunners want to add to their firepower in the remaining few weeks of the window it has to be on the wing, and any move should hinge on Reiss Nelson leaving Arsenal too.
If Nketiah or Nelson stay, then Arsenal shouldn’t buy a forward, it’s as simple as that.
That being said, if both do go, then Arsenal must revive their interest in Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma, who could be Arteta’s key difference-maker.

Right now, Brighton have a host of talented wingers who could improve Arsenal’s squad in addition to Mitoma, the likes of Yankuba Minteh and Simon Adingra.
But it’s clear £70m-rated Mitoma is the star man, and at 27-years-old, Arsenal need to make their move now.
The Gunners were often linked with Mitoma around a year ago, an ‘outstanding’ talent who is hard not to take notice of.
And as well as providing competition for Bukayo Saka on the right side of Arsenal’s attack, Mitoma could even displace Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli on the left.
If Mitoma arrived at the Emirates, Arteta would have four seriously talented wingers, a quartet capable of attacking all on all fronts.
Jamie Carragher thinks Arsenal need to start competing for all trophies, saying they need to start performing in domestic cups as well as the league.
And with the further depth Mitoma would bring to Arsenal in attack, that would be a reality.
There’s a lot of moving pieces for Arsenal to sort before they could launch such an audacious bid, however, Mitoma would be well worth the hassle.
