“I love Man United and I’m happy for what I’ve done recently… However, I was sacked because of that particular player and I don’t think it’s right”: Ruud van Nistelrooy names ONE player who was the reason he was sacked

Ruben Amorim is on his way to Manchester United to take over from Erik ten Hag and Gary Lineker has made a big claim involving Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future.

Amorim is coming to Old Trafford with his own coaching team in place but Van Nistelrooy, who was Ten Hag’s assistant, now finds himself up in the air over his future.

Indeed, Van Nistelrooy has done well since coming in for Ten Hag and United hammered Leicester at the weekend to ensure he finished on a high.

Of course, the United fans love Van Nistelrooy.

But according to Gary Lineker, that might actually work against Van Nistelrooy in terms of keeping his job at the club.

Gary Lineker says what Ruben Amorim will do with Ruud van Nistelrooy

Speaking on the latest episode of the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker got onto the subject of Van Nistelrooy staying at United.

But Lineker believes that Amorim might well move the Dutchman on, in order to start afresh.

“It also wouldn’t surprise me if Ruben Amorim comes in and he goes. Do you really want someone that has been kind of part of the previous regime in there, especially a big personality?

“Where do you place him? Is he the first assistant? I think it might be a little bit awkward. I suspect that he might go elsewhere,” Lineker said.

Is a completely fresh start what Manchester United needs?

Manchester United have been treading water for years now and have never quite got it right despite billions spent and numerous managers.

They’ve tried it all, from club legends like Ole Solskjaer to seasoned winners like Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal.

In a nutshell, it just hasn’t worked, and it’s high time United fans saw their team get back to challenging.

For Ruben Amorim, that might well mean a clean sweep across the board and while Van Nistelrooy has done well, the harsh truth might be needed and Amorim may have to shift him on.

Of course, Van Nistelrooy has done his chances of another job no harm.

But right now, United have to get it spot on and if Amorim wants just his own staff around, then that’s the way things need to go.
