Manchester United suffered a 2-0 Premier League defeat at Arsenal on Wednesday.

The Red Devils went into the game in good form, with eight points from their last four outings.

They had a fine opening half where they kept the Gunners at bay with solid defending.

However, the hosts upped the tempo after the interval and eventually scored from two set pieces.

There were some positives to carry forward. Manuel Ugarte was one of the standout stars for United.

Arsenal barely attacked through the middle, and Ugarte had a huge role to play in this.

The ‘very talented‘ star won nine ground and aerial duels with 100 percent of his dribbles.

Ugarte had a 92 percent passing accuracy. He made five recoveries with two clearances.

The Uruguayan also made a brilliant goalline clearance to prevent a Joshua Zirkzee own goal.

The 23-year-old ace had a mixed start to his United career under manager Erik ten Hag.

However, his fortunes have changed with the Dutchman’s departure in late October.

Ugarte showed promise under interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy and has now settled in perfectly.

Manager Ruben Amorim got the best out of him at Sporting CP during their two seasons together.

A reunion at Old Trafford should see Ugarte become a mainstay in the starting XI.

United have dropped to 11th in the standings after the disappointing loss at the Emirates Stadium.

They are seven points adrift of the top four and have plenty of work to do to make up ground.

Yesterday’s first-half display was quite impressive, but there was barely an attacking threat.

Amorim will aim to find the right balance between attack and defence in the future.
