Manchester United take on Wolverhampton Wanderers looking for their second Premier League victory of the month that could help them climb from 13th in the standings.
It’s been an up and down start to the Ruben Amorin era in the red side of Manchester. An 0–3 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford last time out highlighted the issues United’s squad currently has, continuing to show the work Amorim’s got cut out to rebuild the Red Devils.
Wolves at home should give United a chance to return to winning ways, but nothing is a given with this team and they’ll have to be at their best if they’re to come away with three points on boxing day.
Amorim will be without Victor Lindeloff and Mason Mount who’ll be out until the new year. Matthijs de Ligt could return after missing out vs. Bournemouth due to an illness. It’ll be interesting to see if Marcus Rashford makes the squad for the first time in three games.

Matthijs de Ligt missed the game against Bournemouth due to illness, the second game in succession after missing the Carabao Cup defeat to Spurs.
Mason Mount is sidelined with a thigh injury and is not expected to play for the remainder of the year. The former Chelsea midfielder suffered the problem during the Manchester Derby and according to talkSPORT is set for another ‘lengthy’ injury absence, which could rule him out until March.
Victor Lindelof is set to miss out too, having only lasted a half against Spurs last week. Ruben Amorim didn’t give too much away on the Swedish centre-back’s status, but believed that he would need to undergo a medical assessment to get to the bottom of his problem.
At the start of the December, Luke Shaw revealed that he had a ‘small’ injury setback. He’s been limited to three appearances this season, and was left ‘devastated’ after picking up a muscular injury.
He said in a post on Instagram: “It’s hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forwards, but unfortunately I’ve had a small setback.
“I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs but this has definitely been my toughest period. I’m absolutely devastated and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.”

Ruben Amorim must decide whether to bring Marcus Rashford back into the squad for Manchester United’s Boxing Day trip to Wolves.
Rashford has been left out for the last three matches, with Amorim recently questioning the forward’s decision to give an interview after he was dropped for the Manchester derby.
Asked after United’s heavy defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday whether Rashford could return to face Wolves, Amorim said: “It depends, we will see.”
Rashford is unlikely to start, even if he does come back into the squad. Rasmus Hojlund is to return to the starting lineup, after Joshua Zirkzee again failed to impress against Bournemouth.
Amorim could opt to make changes in midfield after a poor display last time out, with Casemiro an option to come in having not featured much in recent weeks and Kobbie Mainoo largely struggling for form.
Matthijs de Ligt is expected to recover from illness and could start in the back three, with Leny Yoro also in contention to feature.
Harry Maguire is the most likely to drop to the bench, while Noussair Mazraoui should return to his preferred wing-back role.
