Alexander Isak was on target once again as Newcastle United beat Manchester United on Monday evening.
Newcastle United star Alexander Isak has dismissed rumours of a £150million price tag, insisting that his full attention is on his current club amid ongoing speculation about his future.
The Swedish striker was once again on target as the Magpies triumphed over Manchester United on Monday evening, scoring in his sixth consecutive match.
This brings his December tally to eight goals under the guidance of Eddie Howe.
Despite rampant speculation about a possible departure to Arsenal in the coming months, with recent headlines suggesting a £150m fee might tempt the former Real Sociedad player away from St James’ Park, Isak remains focused on helping Newcastle return to European competition.
Following his goal at Old Trafford, Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones asked: “I don’t know if you read the papers, Alexander, but there was a few yesterday saying the club had put a 150 million pounds price tag on your head. What’s your reaction when you see stories like that?”
To which the Newcastle star responded: “No, it doesn’t really faze me too much. I think that’s more for you guys and for fans to talk about.
“I’m in the middle of the season and I think it’s going really well for me and the team, so, you know, all my focus is here and I’m really happy with how things are going. My focus is on the pitch.”
Jamie Carragher, ex-Liverpool icon and now a pundit, couldn’t resist singing praises: “Alexander, I absolutely adore you. I think you’re a fantastic player and if I had £150million, I’d pay it to have you at any club!”
Isak’s sensational form saw him score against heavyweights like Liverpool, Brentford, Leicester City, thrice against Ipswich Town, Aston Villa, and Manchester United, rounding off December on a sky-high note.
Newcastle have also hit a stride with their fifth consecutive victory, catapulting them back into the top five of the Premier League standings.
