Arsenal are facing a fine after showing big-screen replays against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, Keith Hackett says.
The Gunners played footage of Kai Havertz’s disallowed goal in the 2-2 draw on 18 January, Gary Neville noticed, leaving fans disgruntled despite the obvious handball.
Hackett shared that is against current protocols in the Premier League, with current rules far away from that being allowed to happen.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, the ex-PGMOL chief and FIFA referee admitted that punishments could be on the way to the Emirates Stadium.
“It was the correct decision to rule out the goal after it had struck the arm of an Arsenal player before entering the goal,” Hackett said.
“Playing a replay of the incident is not in the VAR remit at this stage and is against the current protocol.
“I have called on many occasions for VAR to operate in the same way as Rugby to help inform the fans.
We are some way off for that to happen.

“I have no doubt that the incident of using the big screen will be investigated by the FA following Gary Neville’s observations.
“It is against the protocol and Arsenal may face a fine.”
Unai Emery will be delighted to leave London with a point in the bag, having been two goals down and fighting in defence to keep that scoreline after clawing back.
Leandro Trossard and Mikel Merino both missed massive chances in the final minutes, but it was Havertz who found the back of the net, only to be disallowed.
It was the right call, and Arsenal fans can have zero complaints after the replays.
