Following Ruben Amorim’s comment that this Manchester United team is the worst in the history of the club, the Red Devils hierarchy have started stepping up efforts to bolster the squad in this winter window.
They are prioritizing signing a new LWB and have made moves to lure Patrick Dorgu from Italian side Lecce.
Now, on Football Insider, transfer expert, Mick Brown, says that Man Utd are also interested in hiring a new No.9 and they already know what type of striker they want.
Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres is on their radar but he isn’t affordable at the moment so United will have to shift their focus to alternative options.
Napoli star Victor Osimhen – who is currently on loan at Galatasaray – is an option Amorim’s side have been ‘keeping a close eye on’. However, purchasing him in this window might not be possible hence they would have to wait until next summer. Brown said:
“United will turn their attention to some of their other targets who might be available. One of those, I’ve heard, will be Osimhen. He’s one they’ve been keeping an eye on.
“It might be another expensive one, but that will have to be decided at the club and with Napoli, and then maybe it’s more likely to happen in the summer.”
Although Brown says that Osimhen wouldn’t be available in January, it was previously reported that Napoli would be ready to sell him permanently this month should they receive an offer of around £62.2m.
The Nigerian has been in fine form for Cimbom thus far this season, scoring 15 goals and registering six assists in 19 appearances in all competitions.
Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund are the two strikers Man Utd currently have at their disposal but the duo have scored only five goals combined in the Premier League thus far and that is just not good enough.
It must be remembered that the Red Devils paid over £100 million (combined) for the dup in the last two summer windows and the output has been poor.
Therefore, signing a new seasoned striker would help Amorim resolve the goal-scoring issues and Osimhen might be a shrewd acquisition. What do you think?
