BREAKING NEWS🚨 “Watching his performance yesterday against Fulham, I just can’t understand why they’re benching him. If Man United don’t want him, let him come to Man City, and we’ll show you the magic!’ Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola is openly questioning Amorim’s decision to sideline a player who’s proven he’s one of their best.

Marcus Rashford was absent once again as Manchester United beat Fulham 1-0 in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim refuses to budge. Despite poor results in recent weeks, the Portuguese head coach has not seen enough from Marcus Rashford to recall him to the matchday squad.

Rashford’s last appearance for Manchester United came at the start of December against Nottingham Forest. Since Amorim dropped Rashford for the Manchester derby, he has only returned to the bench once.

An exit now seems inevitable – and potentially imminent. Barcelona are making space for Rashford, with the United star holding talks with the Spanish giants ahead of a potential January move.

After Sunday’s 1-0 win over Fulham, Amorim was asked about Rashford’s absence and he delivered his most brutal response so far.

Ruben Amorim delivers brutal Marcus Rashford response
While Alejandro Garnacho has worked his way back into Amorim’s plans since being dropped, Rashford has fallen completely out of the picture.

Just last week against Brighton, Amorim said Rashford is not best for the team as his latest justification for leaving him out of the squad.

If you can cast your mind back to when Rashford was first left out, Amorim suggested that he was not overly pleased with how the 27-year-old was training. After 11 successive games without playing, Amorim is still not impressed by what he is seeing at Carrington.

Asked after the Fulham win why Rashford was absent, Amorim replied: “The reason is the training, the way I see what footballers should do in training, in life. It’s every day, every detail. So if things don’t change, I will not change.

Amorim then delivered a brutal line suggesting he would rather put goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital in his squad than Rashford at the moment.

“I prefer it like that,” Amorim continued. “I will put (Jorge) Vital on than a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day. So I will not change in that department.”

Marcus Rashford only has himself to blame
Despite Amorim’s damning response, the United boss has always left the door open for Rashford to return to the squad. He has repeated over and over that it is up to him to turn things around.

The timing of Rashford’s bombshell interview didn’t reflect well on the United star just hours after he was dropped, and it seems his heart is set on leaving after holding transfer talks this month.

Amorim has made sure not to burn bridges and there is still a pathway back for Rashford if he can set his full focus on United, but that seems unlikely at this stage.

Rashford’s dream move is to Barcelona and the Spanish side seem eager to sign him this month if they can navigate their financial problems.

However, for a player who has spent over 20 years of his life in a United shirt, it will be a sour ending to his time at the club.
