BREAKING NEWS: United Legend Condemns FIFA’s ‘Double Standards’ Over Patrick Dorgu’s Three-Match Ban.
In a fervent critique, a Manchester United legend has lambasted FIFA and the Football Association (FA) for what he perceives as blatant double standards following the three-match suspension of United defender Patrick Dorgu. The former player argues that the punishment is excessively harsh and indicative of a biased disciplinary system.
“A Hard Tackle, Yes, But Not Worthy of Such a Ban”
The controversy centers around an incident during Manchester United’s recent 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford. In the first half, Dorgu was involved in a miscommunication with goalkeeper Andre Onana, leading to an early goal for Ipswich. Shortly thereafter, Dorgu was shown a straight red card following a VAR review for a forceful challenge on Omari Hutchinson. The referee, Darren England, initially did not penalize the tackle, but upon reviewing the footage, deemed it serious foul play. 
The United legend, speaking to the press, expressed his dismay at the decision:
“Yes, it was a hard tackle, but does that deserve such harsh punishment? Absolutely not! This just proves how biased the FA can be! We’ve seen far worse go unpunished—so why him? Football needs to return to the days of fairness, not this agenda-driven nonsense.”
Inconsistencies in Disciplinary Actions
The crux of the legend’s argument lies in the perceived inconsistency of disciplinary measures meted out by football’s governing bodies. He points to numerous instances where similar or even more severe infractions have gone unpunished or received minimal sanctions.
“It’s frustrating to see such inconsistency,” he continued. “One player gets a three-match ban for a tackle, while another gets away with a slap on the wrist for something similar or worse. Where’s the fairness in that?”

Impact on Manchester United
Dorgu’s suspension comes at a critical juncture for Manchester United. The 20-year-old Danish defender, who joined the club from Lecce in January, will miss the upcoming FA Cup fifth-round match against Fulham, as well as Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Leicester City. 
Manager Rúben Amorim, while acknowledging the severity of the tackle, emphasized that there was no malicious intent behind Dorgu’s actions. The suspension not only depletes United’s defensive options but also raises questions about the consistency of disciplinary rulings in the league.
