Arsenal make the trip East to play against relegation-threatened Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners come off a historic win against Real Madrid in the Champions League, where they went to the Bernabeu and won 2-1 in the second leg of their quarter-final tie. It meant that they won 5-1 on aggregate, booking a spot in the semi-finals with Paris Saint-Germain.
However, their Premier League form hasn’t been so strong, as Mikel Arteta‘s side have won just one of their last three games. Plus, with Newcastle United just four points behind them in third, they will be quietly looking over their shoulder.
Ben White replaces Timber in defence
GK – David Raya – The fact that Raya conceded just one goal in two games against Real Madrid deserves some plaudits.
LB – Myles Lewis-Skelly – The 18-year-old played all 90 minutes against Madrid on Wednesday, but despite that, we give him the start here.
CB – William Saliba – The Frenchman was superb in the two legs against Madrid and will hope to continue that form into the weekend.
CB – Jakub Kiwior – Kiwior has done a stellar job replacing Gabriel who is injured for the rest of the season.
RB – Ben White – Timber’s fitness has been very up and down this season, so we have Arteta giving him a rest in favour of White.
Partey starts for Arsenal despite yellow card
CM – Thomas Partey – Partey was booked during the second leg against Madrid, meaning he will be suspended for the first leg against PSG.
CM – Declan Rice – Rice won player of the match in both legs against Real, showing he is truly one of the world’s best.
CM – Martin Odegaard – Odegaard will hope to get on the scoresheet this weekend as he has only netted two league goals this season.
Saka starts ahead of Trossard and Nwaneri
LW – Gabriel Martinelli – Martinelli has played a lot of football recently, but despite that, we think Arteta will keep him in the starting XI.
RW – Bukayo Saka – We would expect to see Saka play for some of the game against Ipswich, but if he starts, he will likely be substituted in the second half.
ST – Mikel Merino – Merino keeps his place up front as his Premier League tally now stands at six goals this season.
