Arsenal have the opportunity to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy for £59 million amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Bild (page 11).
The Gunners are expected to bolster the striking department ahead of next season. They have reportedly identified their priority target for the summer.
A Bola have claimed that the club have agreed personal terms with Viktor Gyokeres and have set aside £59m to purchase the Sporting CP striker.
Amidst this, Bild report that the Gunners can sign Guirassy for a similar package.
Paris Saint-Germain are already hot on the trail of the 29-year-old, who has netted 33 goals and provided nine assists during his debut campaign with Dortmund.
However, his contract has a surprise £59m buy-out clause. The transfer figure can be triggered by only seven European clubs including Mikel Arteta’s side.
Meanwhile, Dortmund have no plans to negotiate Guirassy’s exit with PSG, but may have to recoup funds if they miss out on next season’s Champions League.
Arsenal unlikely to consider move for Guirassy
Guirassy signed for Dortmund from Stuttgart last summer after they triggered his £15m release clause.
There were some complications during his medical, but the Bundesliga outfit went forward with the deal.
The Guinean star has repaid the faith with an exceptional tally of 42 goal contributions from 44 appearances.
Dortmund are just one point behind fourth-placed Freiburg and three adrift of third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga.
With Freiburg and Frankfurt facing each other, Dortmund have a big chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
This could put PSG out of the equation. Arsenal can trigger the clause, but we don’t see a deal happening.
Guirassy is already 29 years of age and will turn 30 during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign.
Arsenal could have reservations about paying £59m to purchase the former Rennes striker.
The club are already reluctant to spend £40m plus on Ollie Watkins despite his proven Premier League scoring record due to his age.
Arsenal are likely to focus on an experienced but younger profile. Gyokeres has therefore been earmarked as the priority striker target.
The 26-year-old has netted a stunning 52 goals alongside 13 assists for Sporting CP this campaign and seems poised for a return to the Premier League.
Gyokeres did not get to prove his credentials at Brighton & Hove Albion, but he could redeem himself with the Gunners next season.
