Arsenal’s attention this summer is firmly on additions and making signings as well as the renewal of key figures such as Gabriel Magalhaes, who has extended his stay with the club until 2029. Andrea Berta is leading the club’s recruitment strategy but has other responsibilities.
For Arsenal to comply comfortably within UEFA Financial Fair Play rules, they will need to sell if they want to spend record-breaking levels during the window. football.london is aware that, unlike other clubs, the Gunners wish to work well within these restrictions to avoid any nasty surprises should situations change.
There are several players who could leave the club during the summer window, and Berta will be judged in comparison to his predecessor, Edu Gaspar, on how successful he is at selling players. The former sporting director was often criticised for losing players too cheaply, but some late, strong business before his departure improved his reputation. With that in mind, football.london gives their educated estimates on what type of fees the club could get.
Last year’s estimates saw fees secured for Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Nuno Tavares in line with expectations. Aaron Ramsdale was sold on deadline day slightly below the £30million figure many had hoped to see.
Fabio Vieira – ~£20million
Having spent last on loan with former club FC Porto, Fabio Vieira went some way to improving his reputation after struggling to establish himself with Arsenal. Five goals and five assists across 39 appearances for Porto will have caught the attention of not just the club he was loaned to but others too.
Having signed for Arsenal for £34million three years ago, he has two years left on his deal and the club should be looking to make as much back as possible. Anything less than £20million for the 25-year-old would be a shame considering the success he had on loan, but the interest will need to formalise for this to happen.
Oleksandr Zinchenko – £10million+
A year remains on Zinchenko’s contract, and there has been known interest in the Ukrainian international, particularly from the Bundesliga, including Borussia Dortmund, in the past. Whether that or another club’s keenness in him remains is yet to be determined, but Arsenal will not expect a big fee.
Making upwards of £10million should be an aim and at 28-years-old, any club signing Zinchenko would be getting a player with plenty of years left at the top level. Having made very limited appearances for Arsenal (around 800 minutes) last season, this will not have helped Berta in trying to maximise a fee.
Reiss Nelson – £10million+
With two years remaining on his current deal, there is still value in the Arsenal youth academy graduate. He enjoyed a mostly positive spell with Fulham, and there have been suggestions that the west London club remain interested in the winger.
As a homegrown player, Arsenal should be holding out for at least £10million when it comes to Nelson. Although their negotiating position could be weakened as the 25-year-old attempts to prove his fitness after yet more injuries.
Albert Sambi Lokonga – £8million+
Arsenal will be frustrated that injuries perhaps cost them a decent figure from Sevilla, who opted against activating the £10million-plus option in his loan move. The Belgian is still on the market and is open to plenty to a variety of moves, but the Gunners will likely have to take the very minimal offers they are expected to get.
Karl Hein – £5million+
This is a tough one because we have very little to go on when it comes to the Estonian international’s value. He now has a season under his belt playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues, but still getting more than £10million could be a push. Instead, a club might see a market opportunity for a player whose Arsenal fate has probably been sealed with the expected arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Jakub Kiwior – £30million+
Finally, news of a potential profit to be made for Arsenal as the performances of Jakub Kiwior at the end of the season, covering for Gabriel Magalhaes, did him and the club plenty of favours. Signed for around £20million from Spezia, the Gunners should be looking for at least £10million more in profit, and there are plenty of interested parties, particularly in Italy and Germany, football.london understands
That said, he has grown support from his performances and now is seen as a valued member of the group who can contribute when called upon. Many now would perhaps rather see him stay than be sold (myself included).
Gabriel Martinelli – £60million+
Of the potential surprise exits from the club this summer, Gabriel Martinelli is one that could happen. Leandro Trossard is believed to be in talks over improving his deal. So while Mikel Arteta will want to add rather than replace, if a sizeable offer comes in for the Brazilian it will be difficult for them not to be tempted by it.
That figure would surely need to be in excess of £60million. When Brentford asks for similar figures for Bryan Mbeumo, the Gunners are well within their rights to turn anything less down.
