‘He’s bringing more than energy’: Thierry Henry lauds Uruguay star Arsenal seemingly want

Thierry Henry has praised Arsenal transfer target Federico Valverde and how he has transformed his game in the colours of Real Madrid, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (02/11/22 at 10:40 pm).

If it wasn’t for Karim Benzema collecting his first-ever Ballon d’Or crown recently, a player like Valverde might have gotten more of a spotlight for his performances in the colours of Real Madrid.

This was recognised by Arsenal legend Henry who pointed out that Valverde is ‘bringing more than energy’ this season.

On Wednesday night, Carlo Ancelotti’s side topped Group F in the Champions League when they thrashed Scottish Premiership champions Celtic 5-1.

Valverde assisted and was on the scoresheet on the night – that’s eight goals and four assists in all competitions for the thriving 24-year-old this term.

Thierry Henry is very much liking what he is seeing from the versatile midfielder and how he is also ‘very humble’ about his work.

“He is bringing the energy and I don’t think he will be on the penalties anytime soon,” said Henry.

“But what he does is, this year, he scored against Celta Vigo and that was his first goal in two years.

“Now, he is on six goals in the league. Two in the Champions League. Two assists in the Champions League. And two assists in the league.

“This is a guy that is very humble about it, but he is bringing more than energy.”

ARSENAL LINKED TO VALVERDE

It has been a long time since Arsenal were able to fish in the big pond for Europe’s superstar players, but given their recent rise, then all of that might just change.

Mikel Arteta’s side are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and hoping to end their long-awaited drought of becoming champions of England again.

If they do that, then it will allow them to lure some of the big names to the Emirates, with Valverde a player very much on their transfer radar.

It seems as though Arsenal have been watching the Uruguay international in action and will be trying to push for a rather ambitious move for his talents.
