Arsenal are actively pursuing a new striker during the ongoing transfer window.

The Gunners scored only 69 goals from 38 Premier League games last term. They finished 10 points behind champions Liverpool after playing out 14 draws.

Arsenal clearly need an upgrade in the centre-forward department for next season, and Record (page 16) continue to link the London giants with Viktor Gyokeres.

The publication claim that Sporting CP star is presently on holiday and remains patient regarding his future.

Gyokeres is ‘willing to wait until the limit to see his dream of playing’ for the Gunners become a reality.

Mikel Arteta’s side recently made an informal offer of £47 million plus £8.6m in add-ons for Gyokeres, but Sporting CP are adamant that he won’t be sold for less than £68m.

Gyokeres speculation could be agent-driven
The Gunners are expected to land a marquee striker this summer. They are yet to make a formal bid for either Benjamin Sesko or Gyokeres.

Talks are ongoing with RB Leipzig for Sesko but as things stand, the club have no plans to meet the £68-85m valuation for the 22-year-old.

The club have not finalised personal terms with Sesko either. On the contrary, it has been claimed that Arsenal have a verbal agreement with Gyokeres.

In our view, the club could be assessing the financial aspect before lodging an official transfer bid.

Gyokeres’ agent Hasan Cetinkaya obviously wants the Gunners to choose his client. It could be the reason behind the constant links by the Portuguese media.

Hopefully, Arsenal can make up their mind on which striker to recruit over the next few days. Arsenal must secure a deal by the start of pre-season.

The Gunners have a difficult fixture list at the beginning of the Premier league campaign, and need their marquee striker in the best form and shape.
