The transfer market is already in full swing, and the big English clubs are making the moves. While some teams have opted to reinforce specific areas, others are looking for versatility and depth in several areas. Arsenal are among those determined to explore the attacking front, especially on the left flank.
Mikel Arteta was not entirely convinced by the performances of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard during the last campaign. Both shared the starting line-up, but neither offered the necessary consistency. This constant search to improve their attacking front has generated a number of rumours, and now a new name enters the scene.
Arsenal Are Pushing to sign Karim Adeyemi
As reported by Fichajes, Karim Adeyemi is the latest player to be linked with Arsenal as a potential wide attacking reinforcement. The German attacker, currently at Borussia Dortmund, is also being monitored by Newcastle United.
His season in Germany was inconsistent, but he closed with 21 goals and assists in total. Although he usually plays on the right, Adeyemi can adapt to the left, which adds value to his profile. Borussia Dortmund would be willing to listen to offers if convincing proposals come in. Even so, the London club are still considering Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes as a priority, although his situation is still unclear.
Opinion:
For Arsenal, the big question mark is whether going for a secondary option like Adeyemi represents a smart move or simply a response to the uncertainty surrounding Rodrygo’s possible arrival. The German player’s versatility cannot be denied. The 23-year-old has pace, dribbling skills and a certain ability to solve problems in the final third.
However, his performance has been uneven, and Arteta already has two left-wingers who have shown similar ups and downs. Would adding a profile with similar characteristics, albeit more versatile, provide real solutions or more doubts?
In addition, the Spanish coach is looking for an attacker who is not necessarily an out-and-out winger, but someone who understands the interior spaces and can alternate roles. In that sense, Morgan Rogers seems to fit better with that idea. The Aston Villa player has been used behind the striker, on both wings, and even as an attacking inside player. His profile is closer to what Arteta is looking to build.
Adeyemi would not be a risk-free gamble. His inconsistency could be replicated in a competitive context like Arsenal today, where every minute counts. Although the possibility of signing him for a reasonable figure makes him an attractive alternative, prioritising Rodrygo or looking for Rogers-type profiles seems a more coherent route with the evolution the club are aiming for.
