There’s something beautiful about seeing a dream come true — and that moment hit hard for the family of Cristian Mosquera.
The 21-year-old Spanish defender just signed for Arsenal in a £13m move from Valencia, and while that’s huge news in itself, it was his dad who ended up stealing hearts.
Arsenal, Mosquera’s father was caught on camera breaking down in tears while watching his son’s official welcome video. As the lights came up and the room applauded, the camera zoomed in on him — sitting quietly with his hands over his eyes, clearly overwhelmed.
“You ok, Dad?” someone gently asked, as the moment sank in.
Later, as Mosquera posed for the usual signing day photos with Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta, it was revealed: “Your dad stayed outside… he’s crying!” Berta told the new Gunner.
Even Mosquera’s younger brother got involved — Arteta jokingly pushed him toward the contract and said, “For the future, because he’s very good!”
Mosquera, who joins as cover and competition for William Saliba and Gabriel, becomes the first defensive signing of the summer. But this little moment between father and son reminds us what football is really about: family, pride, and moments that money can’t buy.
