Manchester United have drastically improved in the attack this summer with nearly £200m spent on three forwards.
It was a drastically needed and transformational move by Manchester United following the dull forward line which scored 44 goals through the entire Premier League campaign.
This all started with United’s £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha who brings plenty of creativity and goals to the team, which was non-existent from Alejandro Garnacho.
United also signed Bryan Mbeumo to be a similarly drastic upgrade on the right side of the attack after his 20-goal Premier League season.
The cherry on the cake came as United signed Benjamin Sesko to bolster the striker position which Rasmus Hojlund didn’t make his own over his two year spell as first choice.
But despite such drastic improvements, United are still considering future additions, including one Brazilian wonderkid.
Manchester United keen to win race for Ricardo Mathias
While United have improved up top and the slim squad will be fine this season with one game a week, qualifying for Europe could mean that Amorim needs another player or two in the ranks.
So with the future in mind, Christopher Vivell and the recruitment staff are already lining up future additions.
This has been reported by the Daily Mail, which has reported that United’s scout Alexandre Torres was watching Internacional’s 1-1 draw with Fluminense and he is thought to have had his eye on Ricardo Mathias.
United are keen to position themselves at the front of the race to sign Mathias, with many in Brazil feeling that he has ‘superstar’ potential.
Mathias has a release clause of £56m at just 19 years old, and therefore United are not expected to sanction this deal anytime soon.
This season, Mathias has scored just four goals in 15 games, which is not exactly form which will tempt United into spending such a hefty fee.

Six months ago, the idea of signing a top Brazilian talent would have excited most of the fanbase, having grown discontent at watching Hojlund’s struggles leading the line.
However, after the quality brought in by Ineos, signing a youngster who will need to be playing and is also a big risk, just isn’t in line with the club’s direction.
United already have a teenage striking prodigy in the form of Chido Obi at the club, and so spending £56m on another teenage forward to develop wouldn’t be a smart use of funds, when in fact experience might be the smarter route.
If it happens, we can be sure it’s because Ineos feel he is a future world beater. However right now, we can’t imagine this happening anytime soon.
